A surfing revolution has begun on the distant and barricaded shores of Cuba . Baddadcreations, Cuban Surfriders Association and Havanasurf are calling all like-minded revolutionaries to join a fundraising campaign at Little Av Bar & Restaurant, Avalon, NSW, to help create awareness for the Cuban surfers, as well as help Cuban kids experience the joy of surfing. Due to 50 years of political blockades, the Cubans have no access to materials or equipment but an evening of music and giveaways will help to change all that. There will be live sounds by Northern Beaches bands Sunroom and legendary zombie rockers Goons of Doom, with DJ Dicky Dancer spinning tracks in-between. There will be raffles with some great prizes to win too. All proceeds will go directly to helping the sport of surfing grow on the island. A portion of sales will also go towards tsunami relief in Samoa. Pre-sales are $20 (+plus booking fee), or $25 on the door. If you don’t fancy booking online, why not support your local independent retail outlet.
